Match the estimating package to the decision
Use a quantity takeoff when your team already holds supplier quotes and installation rates. Request a priced bid estimate when you need quantities assembled with agreed labor, material, equipment and indirect inputs. Use a conceptual MEP budget when the design is still developing and assumptions need to be tracked between milestones.
For concrete, masonry, structural steel, framing, roofing, waterproofing, openings, drywall, painting, flooring or sitework, review the individual trade pages. Each package has different documents and measurement units; confirm which trades and interfaces your proposal covers.
Review scope before authorizing the estimate
The document set, design stage, trade complexity, alternates and requested deadline affect the assignment. Review fee and revision questions, see illustrative deliverable formats, then send your current plans and exclusions through the request form on the relevant service page.
