Concrete Estimating & Quantity Takeoff Services

Prepare a concrete bid with separate quantities for placement, reinforcing and formwork. JLG Estimating measures the agreed structural and flatwork scope from your issued plans, keeping concrete mix references, member dimensions, levels and drawing assumptions visible in the workbook.

Scope and measurement basis

What the concrete takeoff can include

Choose the items required for your bid. Quantities are grouped by the available drawing references, material or assembly, location and unit. Pricing is added only when it forms part of the agreed package.

Separate concrete volume from reinforcing and formed faces

We break the takeoff down by footing, wall, beam and slab designation before summarizing it by level or pour area. A slab thickness change affects volume; it does not automatically change every reinforcement or finishing item. Openings, recesses, thickened edges and foundations beneath the slab are checked as separate geometry so overlapping components are not counted twice.

Rebar quantities follow the available schedules and details. Missing development, lap or connection information is recorded as a clarification rather than supplied as engineering design. For a priced estimate, confirm ready-mix quotes, pumping, finishing, testing, access and placement assumptions. Gross measured quantities and any agreed ordering allowance remain separate.

Scope interfaces to settle before pricing

  • Identify whether excavation, subbase and backfill belong in the concrete package or the sitework package.
  • Confirm responsibility for embeds, anchor bolts, waterproofing and reinforcing supply versus installation.
  • State the available reinforcing detail level; a bid takeoff is not a fabrication bar-bending schedule unless specifically agreed.

Choose the output your bid team needs

Quantity-only takeoff

Use an itemized workbook to apply your own supplier quotes and crew rates. Keep quantities, units, locations, drawing references and measurement assumptions separate. Agree the PDF markup and summary format with the proposal.

Priced trade estimate

Build on measured quantities with the agreed material, labor and equipment inputs. Identify supplier exclusions, quote dates, access assumptions and contractor markups so your team can review the bid basis before submission.

Revision or alternate review

Identify the original drawing issue and the changed package. Keep additions, deletions and alternate quantities visible; clarify whether repricing and a revised scope letter are included in this assignment.

For workbook organization, see the illustrative deliverable layouts. These layouts show the format; project-specific samples will be identified separately when available.

Concrete estimating questions

Yes. Specify quantity-only concrete, reinforcement and formwork schedules if you will apply your own supplier prices and crew production rates. A priced bid package is a separate scope and should identify placement, equipment and indirect-cost assumptions.
