Doors, Windows & Glazing Estimating Services

Scope and measurement basis

What the doors & windows takeoff can include

Choose the items required for your bid. Quantities are grouped by the available drawing references, material or assembly, location and unit. Pricing is added only when it forms part of the agreed package.

Reconcile plan tags with schedules before totaling openings

An opening may appear on a floor plan, elevation and schedule, but should enter the quantity register once. We reconcile those references using door/window tags and keep similar-looking openings separate when size, frame, rating, glazing or hardware differs. Missing tags, duplicate schedule entries and conflicts are listed for review.

Hardware sets and access-control devices need an explicit supply and installation boundary. Electrified hardware can involve the door supplier, electrical contractor and security integrator. We preserve those interfaces instead of assuming the door count establishes the complete controls package. Glazing areas and frame/perimeter measurements remain distinct so supplier quotations can be checked on equivalent scope.

Scope interfaces to settle before pricing

  • Confirm hardware supply, installation and electrified-device connections separately.
  • Identify who carries perimeter waterproofing, firestopping and sealants.
  • Record measurement and survey assumptions for replacements and existing openings.

Choose the output your bid team needs

Quantity-only takeoff

Use an itemized workbook to apply your own supplier quotes and crew rates. Keep quantities, units, locations, drawing references and measurement assumptions separate. Agree the PDF markup and summary format with the proposal.

Priced trade estimate

Build on measured quantities with the agreed material, labor and equipment inputs. Identify supplier exclusions, quote dates, access assumptions and contractor markups so your team can review the bid basis before submission.

Revision or alternate review

Identify the original drawing issue and the changed package. Keep additions, deletions and alternate quantities visible; clarify whether repricing and a revised scope letter are included in this assignment.

For workbook organization, see the illustrative deliverable layouts. These layouts show the format; project-specific samples will be identified separately when available.

Doors & Windows estimating questions
